Kumari Colson

QUESTION: What is your favourite perfume or perfumes?
COLSON: I have a very soft spot for scent. I think it’s one of the true pleasures of being a woman; my personal ritual is putting on scent before bed. Some of my very favourites, since my twenties (I am now 50-plus), have been Sisley’s Eau Du Soir, Bel Ami by Hermès—it’s a men’s fragrance—and Chanel No. 5. (This is a picture of my scent caddie in my dressing room.)

Q: Why do you love them?
COLSON: I love these particular scents as they are romantic, soft and sensual, and certainly they make me feel that way.

Q: How long have you been wearing them?
COLSON: Early in my 20s, I worked with Wardair, and then whenever I travelled, the one thing I always treated myself to was a scent. My first bottle of Chanel No. 5, I bought in London; and Sisley’s Eau Du Soir, in Paris.
