IKEA teams up with Byredo to launch home fragrance
IKEA home fragrance is on the horizon!
It’s hard to find someone who isn’t a fan of Swedish home retailer IKEA. With a sustainability-focused mandate, easy and accessible home furnishings and affordable style, what’s not to love? Well, according to British Vogue, there’s another reason to love the company—a fragrance might be on the way.
There isn’t a lot of news about the collaboration yet, but the brand is teaming up with cult perfume company Byredo to create a home fragrance. Says Ben Gorham, Byredo founder, to Lonny Magazine:”I think we’re working on using scent to communicate emotions and tell stories of people, culture and design. It’s a layer we’ve imagined can add a very intimate experience to this scale that IKEA works in.”
If you ask us, it’s about time IKEA dipped its toe into scent. This is a big deal for a brand that sells everything from meatballs to throw pillows to custom kitchens. While the brand has included candles in their offerings before, a collaboration with a noted perfumer seems to be indicating an opportunity to really define what the IKEA scent personality is.
We turn it over to you—what do you think IKEA will smell like? Fresh and minimalist? Rich and comforting?
