The release of No Doubt’s new single, “Settle Down,” leaves us wishing songstress Gwen Stefani would parcel off some time to develop a new scent—again.
The trendsetter launched her L LAMB fragrance in 2006 year to much fanfare, then set fragrance-loving audiences a-frenzy with her super-original Harajuku Lovers launch soon afterward.
Harajuku Lovers, a five-pack of perfumes packaged as irresistible dolls, were inspired by the hyper-cute style of a certain fashion-loving-Japanese-girl crowd from Japan. And they were blockbusters. Subsequent seasonal versions of the Harajuku scents featured newly outfitted dolls—which quickly became collectibles. And fans ranged across all ages and fashion demographics.
Thinking about Stefani this week while humming the catchy, new song, we reminisced about the Harajuku girls, and we got to wondering. Who is the most popular of the girls?
Your fragrance trivia for the day: “G” is the best seller: She’s the blonde, the leader in the Harajuku perfume pack.
G is categorized as a “modern gourmand” by Coty, the company that houses Stefani’s spritzes in its perfume portfolio.
FYI: She has top notes of mandarin, coconut and apple skin; heart notes of jasmine sambac, freesia, magnolia; and base notes of coconut cream, white sandalwood and cotton woods.
Harajuku Lovers, “G”, EDT, $49 (30 ml), www.HLfragrance.com; available at www.shoppersdrugmart.ca, www.murale.ca, www.pharmaprix.ca, www.sephora.ca
