Grace Coddington launches perfume

The famous and famously red-headed former creative director of Vogue turns her creative attention to scent. The result: A rosy spritz named, of course, Grace by Grace Coddington.

We all wondered what Grace Coddington was going to do after stepping down as reigning fashion artiste at Vogue Magazine. It seems that to start, she’s going to dabble in perfume.

00-grace-coddington-perfumeVogue Magazine (of course) broke the news in its March issue, where Coddington released a timeline of her life in fragrance. She wore such classics as Floris Red Rose, Calvin Klein Original and Chanel No. 19, before deciding to try her hand at collaborating on an original scent.

Working with Comme des Garcons, Coddington created a blend of peach blossom, white musk, amber crystal and Moroccan rose absolute. Says Coddington in Vogue Magazine of the scent: “My mother had a rose garden, and it just never occurred to me to smell like any other smell except rose.”

The bottle is based off of one of Coddington’s sketches (which are great—check out here Instagram feed) and was designed by Fabien Baron.

Although it launches April 19 at Dover Street Market in London, it doesn’t look like we’ll get to shop the scent in Canada just yet. We will, however, keep a nose out for the reviews.

She has yet to nail down her favourite perfume, but knows that it smells green, earthy and maybe a little bit spicy, but definitely not sweet.
