GAGA, KLEIN, CAPTURE FAME ON FILM

“The smell of this fragrance reminds me of making love—it is a very sensual fragrance,” said Lady Gaga this week, during our interview with her in New York City on the occasion of the official launch of her new perfume, Fame.

“It is instantly a blast and exciting and then it is quite addictive and luscious. And for me, I like to bathe in it. It’s not something you have to be shy with it.

“The best way for me to describe my experience with scent is that I associate it with colours,” said Gaga. “I associate it with the colour black because for me, being pensive about fame is a very dark thing, but when you release it, what comes out is quite light and beautiful.”

This dichotomy of fame, a metaphor of darkness and light, was illustrated more fully in the short film, created by Gaga in collaboration with director Steven Klein, which premiered as part of the larger-than-life launch of the performer’s perfume at the Guggenheim Museum this past Thursday evening in New York.

Now, when she indulges in a crazy-expensive bottle of fragrance, she can do so guilt-free. Well almost. It’s all in the name of research after all.
