Aromatic
The Whale & The Rose defines fragrances according to one or more of nine fragrance families: Aromatic, Citrus, Floral, Fresh, Fruity, Gourmand, Green, Oriental and Woody. An Aromatic fragrance typically contains herbal notes, such as sage, rosemary, tarragon, thyme and mint. These notes, in part or as a combination, define the character of the perfume. Often there is a citrus or resinous note in these fragrance makeups as well. Increasingly, there is overlap between the families of scent. Many modern-day perfumes, for example may contain ingredients or notes that allow them to be classified within more than one fragrance family: For instance, there are aromatic-citrus scents, fruity-floral perfumes, fresh-woody toilettes.
