Diptyque’s new Volutes adventure

Diptyque’s new Volutes adventure

Volutes: If Diptyque’s marketing images are an indication, the Parisian brand’s new fragrance is named for the spiraling plumes of smoke wafting across the sky in the wake of adventuring ocean liners in bygone eras.
You see, Yves Coueslant, one of the co-founders of the company, has channeled the memories of childhood journeys, taken across the sea from Marseilles to Saigon, into this new toilette.
Volutes is the scent of the big boat’s handsome wood-paneled passageways, of gritty port cities and exotic spices blended with the olfactory essences of aristocratic ladies and gentlemen.
Notes of tobacco, honey and dried fruit; pink pepper, cinnamon and saffron; and sensual iris, myrrh and balmy, leathery notes, whirl together to evoke these romantic bygone moments.
Although inspired by the past, Volutes’ fruity, floral and aromatic character make it ideal for modern adventures too.

Her long-held love of fragrance led her to launch The Whale & The Rose, a destination for all things perfume-related. Now, when she indulges in a crazy-expensive bottle of fragrance, she can do so guilt-free. Well almost. It’s all in the name of research after all.
