Channel spring with sunshine scents
By Ashley Kowalewski
We’re in that in-between-season weather wise, oscillating between a winter coat one day, sandals and bare legs the next. It’s a killer for moods too. So we advocate scent therapy via bottled sunshine.
Not that the sun’s golden rays can actually be bottled, but they can definitely inspire, and here’s to fragrance inspiration!
FRAGRANCE TO WEAR IN A CONVERTIBLE
Lush Gorilla Perfumes Sun is one of a nine-scent collection in the brand’s new retro-inspired lineup. Influenced by Lush co-founder Mark Constantine’s visions of a big orange sun on a lollipop stick, this orange-tangerine-sandalwood-infused eau de cologne reminds of us of summer road trips with windows down, music playing and the sun beating down. $35 (43 ml), www.lush.ca
SUNNY SCENTS OF SUMMER ROMANCE
This girly fresh-floral toilette recalls summer romances and hot sunny days spent at the beach. Top notes of redcurrant, guava and mandarin; a heart of lily of the valley, violet and lychee; and a base of apricot skin, blonde woods and musk combine to create a sparkling, warm and flirty-sweet fragrance. Perfect to recapture that butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling that accompanied those warm-weather romances. Marc Jacobs Daisy Sunshine EDT, $75 (50 ml), www.marcjacobs.com
SUN, SUN, SUN, HERE WE COME
Imagine lying in the grass wearing your favourite cotton tee on a sunny, sunny day. That’s the sensation Demeter was imagining when it developed its new Sunshine Cologne Spray. What would said T-shirt smell like after it—and you—had been basking in that glorious glow all afternoon? Warm cotton, inviting, euphoric. Available in May 2013, $15 (30 ml), www.demeterfragrance.com
