Our assistant editor shares her fall perfume pick

Alexandra Donaldson shares her fall #TWTRspritz — Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur. It’s comforting, familiar, but also a little weird.

Although the year officially begins on January 1, for me, fall always seems to signal a fresh start. To usher in this rebirth of sorts, I’ll be wearing something earthy and aromatic. Something that feels like it goes back to basics. Something like Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur. It’s citrus and green, but it wears a little darker than those notes would suggest, and it complements bare skin (because September is never actually that cold) as well as it does fall layers (because the temperatures always dip quickly).

It’s also a scent I always come back to—something comforting and familiar—but it’s also a little weird. It feels like an old school cologne with modern sensibilities.  I like the combination of bitter orange, cardamom and clover off the top, and it’s not something I’ve encountered before.

“It’s sort of like finding that perfect vintage piece—worn-in and comfortable but completely one-of-a-kind.

Top notes: bitter orange, cardamom, basil
Middle notes: violet leaf, neroli, clover
Base notes: musk, moss, patchouli

Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur, $145 (100 ml), www.sephora.com
