Lancôme turns 80 years old

Lancôme turns 80 years old

On July 7, 2015 Lancôme held a start-studded party during this month’s Paris Haute Couture week to celebrate its 80th birthday.

“Life is beautiful,” the motto of the party as well as the name of one of the brand’s many fragrances, was indeed the mood of the event, with brand ambassadors past and present attending and a performance by Kylie Minogue paving the way for an unforgettable evening.

Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, Lupito Nyong’o as well as Isabella Rossellini all gathered to celebrate the beauty brand’s long and full life, with Rossellini speaking to the crowd about her long-term relationship with the brand—her daughter, Elletra is now a brand ambassador too!

“For Lancôme, beauty goes hand in hand with happiness,” said Françoise Lehmann, Lancôme’s General Manager, “so it’s a birthday in the form of a celebration, which each month will reaffirm the brand’s greatest ambition: Making women’s lives more beautiful with Lancôme!”

Lancôme has released many fragrances over the years; it actually began as a fragrance company when it released five fragrances just in time for the 1935 World’s Fair in Brussels, Belgium. Since then the brand has created many spritzes, from the classic Trésor—and its most most recent La Nuit Trésor, released earlier this year—to La Vie Est Belle, which debuted in 2012 and which deserves honourable mention here as its name became the theme and mantra for this large-scale beauty celebration.
