A Fragrance Q&A With Susie Sheffman
Susie Sheffman is a veteran of the Canadian fashion community. Until 2012, she was the long-time fashion director at Fashion Magazine and still contributes to the publication, although now you’ll find her styling editorials and ad campaigns or sitting front-row centre at fashion week. Simple, direct and undeniably chic, Sheffman tells us in our fragrance Q&A about the only fragrance she wears and who she thinks smells the best.
QUESTION: What is your favourite scent memory of childhood?
SUSIE SHEFFMAN: Johnson’s Baby Powder. I used to sprinkle it on my blankie, sniff it and pop my finger into my mouth. Bliss.
Q: What does your favourite fragrance say about your personality?
SHEFFMAN: I’m not sure, but I hear Madonna wears it!
Q: How many fragrances do you own?
SHEFFMAN: One—Fracas [by Robert Piguet for Women].
Q: How many fragrances do you regularly wear?
SHEFFMAN: I wear only one whenever the mood strikes, but irregularly.
Q: What do you smell like?
SHEFFMAN: Hopefully, fresh and clean.
Q: Who is the best smelling person you’ve ever met, and what did they smell like?
SHEFFMAN: My great friend, Shari Creed, always smells uniquely fabulous. She concocts her own fragrance using a blend of eight essential oils, and layers them.
Q: If you could bottle the scent of a favourite place/city/memory/moment what would it be and please describe the smell.
SHEFFMAN: Anything that smells like beach, ocean, and Bain de Soleil.
Q: How important is fragrance to your life, to your sense of style?
SHEFFMAN: It’s all a part of the storytelling!
