Hermès and the soul-soothing bath

Hermès and the soul-soothing bath

By Deborah Fulsang

If you’re like many of us, September brings a return to a rigorous up-at-6am schedule that wipes us out after the first week or two. We start fantasizing about a holiday, despite the fact that we’re supposed to have just had one. With that, we also start daydreaming about the weekend and trying to fit in a long soul-soothing bath. Enter Le Bain Hermès. The brand’s chic new bath line debuts this month and it epitomizes – like so much from this iconic French house of fragrance and style – elegance, minimalism and quality.

We’re fans of so many Hermès scents that we’re tickled with this lineup of shampoo, hydrating balm, toning gel, body milk and soap, that borrows its many-faceted perfume identity from the brand’s Colognes collection (think Eau de Gentiane Blanche, Eau de Mandarine Ambrée, Eau d’Orange Verte etc.) and the Garden Perfumes collection (Un Jardin Après La Mousson, Un Jardin Sur Le Nil etc.).

The bottles and balms will likewise raise the aesthetic bar in your bathroom too. Hotel spa, anyone?

All because, in the inspired words of the Hermès scribes: “Bath time ritual can be as intense, intimate and precious as the act of applying perfume.”

Her long-held love of fragrance led her to launch The Whale & The Rose, a destination for all things perfume-related. Now, when she indulges in a crazy-expensive bottle of fragrance, she can do so guilt-free. Well almost. It’s all in the name of research after all.
