Shopping help for Father’s Day fragrances
By Deborah Fulsang
Whisky, power tools, barbecue accessories: All legitimate Father’s Day gifts. We admit it. But wait a minute. We say, appeal to Pop’s sensitive side. With yes, you guessed it, fragrance.
But what would your dad enjoy?
Take our Quiz to help in finding the ideal scent for your Father (or for any special man in your life for that matter) or you could look to the marketplace for a cue.
To aid your efforts, we tapped our connections at leading retailers – Holt Renfrew, Shoppers Drug Mart and Sears – to give you a snapshot of what’s been winning over shoppers at the men’s fragrance counters lately.
At Holt Renfrew, the top five men’s fragrances are:
- Hermès Terre d’ Hermès
- Chanel Bleu de Chanel
- Ermenegildo Zegna Essenze
- Acqua di Parma Colonia
- Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa
At Shopper’s Drug Mart, the following scents lead at the men’s counter:
- Chanel Bleu de Chanel
- Paco Rabanne 1 Million
- Giorgio Armani Acqua di Gio Pour Homme
The team at the chain, also mention Lacoste L1212 Blanc as a popular runner-up that’s gaining ground.
At Sears, like at Shoppers’s, Armani’s Acqua di Gio Homme is also making the top five in the popularity list.
The other quartet of scents in leading positions include:
- Giorgio Armani Armani Code
- Paco Rabanne 1 Million
- Ralph Lauren Polo Red
- Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male
So whether you intuit the man in your life would enjoy the iconic Italian citrusy spritz, Acqua di Parma, or the warmer woody-amber-citrus Essenza by Ermenegildo Zegna, this is a solid start for your shopping trip. Our advice: Save the power tools for Christmas and get spritzing.
Discover more details in our Perfume-o-pedia on each of these scents too.
