Gucci Westman’s favourite scents of the season

We had the pleasure of speaking with beauty artist extraordinaire Gucci Westman recently—she was in town as Global Artistic Director to launch Revlon’s Spring 2014 makeup collection. (Lots more on that cosmetics topic later from our Deborah Fulsang as she intros the coming beauty season at The Kit in soon-to-launch issues.) Of course, we couldn’t resist asking Westman about her favourite scents for the holiday season.

Deborah Fulsang: What is your favourite fragrance that you’re wearing right now?

Gucci Westman: Santa Maria Novella; I’m wearing Pomegranate.

Fulsang: Do you change it up at all?

Westman: I usually mix the pomegranate [with] musk.

Fulsang: Do you scent your home for the holidays?

Westman: Yes, I use Cire Trudon—I use I use a lot of the big candles and I have the Stink Bombs, the glass vials. And for the holidays, I get this special oil that they burn at the Hotel Meurice in Paris. It is overwhelming but I love it! It smells so festive.

Deborah Fulsang has spent the last two decades as a journalist covering news and trends in the worlds of style—in fashion and beauty, design and décor, food and entertaining. Her long-held love of fragrance led her to launch The Whale & The Rose, a destination for all things perfume-related. Now, when she indulges in a crazy-expensive bottle of fragrance, she can do so guilt-free. Well almost. It’s all in the name of research after all.
