Your favourite beauty products often find their way onto your vanity originally via recommendations from friends and advice from trusted magazine editors. On that note, who better to make beauty recommendations than the pros? This week, we share the go-to summer fragrances and scented lotions and potions of a few of our favourite top-tier beauty bloggers. So stay tuned all week.
Today, it’s Rema Gouyez, Digital Marketing Coordinator for Benefit Cosmetics Canada by day, director at The Burgundy Book (www.theburgundybook.com/ @RemaGouyezby night, who dishes on her beauty go-tos.

Favourite summer fragrance: “Out of all of this year’s perfume releases, this is the one that captivates me the most. It features bergamot and apple, as well as my favourite note of vanilla, without being sickly sweet. The infusion of musk and ylang-ylang make the juice incredibly airy and light, which is perfect for hot, humid days. It’s not a particularly complicated fragrance, but it had me hooked the moment it settled on my skin.” Chloé See by Chloé EDP, $85 (50 ml), www.chloe.com

Favourite moisturizer: “It’s naughty, I know, but my favourite moisturizer is Jo Malone London Nectarine Blossom & Honey Body Crème. It’s pricey, but the silky texture leaves you feeling like a goddess. When I wear this I really don’t need to layer with a fragrance as the scent is so pronounced. I save this one for special occasions.” Jo Malone London Nectarine Blossom & Honey Body Crème $90, www.jomalone.com

Favourite body wash: “Philosophy carries a line of body washes that I adore, especially around the holiday season when they bring out the [limited edition] Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa body wash. It’s my favourite Starbucks drink in a body wash and although he won’t admit it, my other half loves to use it too.”
Want a yummy alternative available all year? Try Philosophy Vanilla Birthday Cake Shampoo, Shower Gel & Bubble Bath, $21, www.philosophy.com

Favourite scented lipgloss: “I’m not a huge lipgloss fan, but the one formula and scent that recently wowed me is Lancôme’s Gloss in Love. The texture isn’t sticky and the colours are bold. I love the soft scent of vanilla gourmand and fresh fruits within the gloss. Another great product for the summer!” Lancôme Gloss in Love in 385 Under the Spotlight, $28, www.lancome.com

Stay tuned tomorrow as Michlle Villett of www.beautyeditor.ca shares her favourite fragrance finds.

Deborah Fulsang has spent the last two decades as a journalist covering news and trends in the worlds of style—in fashion and beauty, design and décor, food and entertaining. Her long-held love of fragrance led her to launch The Whale & The Rose, a destination for all things perfume-related. Now, when she indulges in a crazy-expensive bottle of fragrance, she can do so guilt-free. Well almost. It’s all in the name of research after all.
