Ed Hardy Skulls & Roses for him, her

A killer bottle convinces many to try a new fragrance. At least once. Ed Hardy’s new Skulls & Roses scents, for him and her, seduce—especially fans of Hardy’s Sixties-era tattoo art—with their matte black and white skull flasks. (Their design is based on Hardy’s famous and trademarked Skulls & Roses tattoo.)

Inside the sinister vessels come likable spritzes. (Alas, with the packaging, we were hoping for a little more darkness.)

For the women’s scent, perfumer Marypierre Julien mixes a fruity-floral concoction: strawberry with grapefruit, honeysuckle, magnolia and daisy combine with violet leaves. The finish: with caramel, vanilla and white musk. Sweet and easy-to-wear.

The men’s scent, a more interesting and nuanced recipe crafted by perfumer Adriana Medina, is a fresh ozonic with notes of bergamot, cardamom, violet, lavandin and geranium; with amber, sandalwood, moss and musk at the base.

These fragrances might also make for great Halloween décor too. (Just saying.)

Deborah Fulsang has spent the last two decades as a journalist covering news and trends in the worlds of style—in fashion and beauty, design and décor, food and entertaining. Her long-held love of fragrance led her to launch The Whale & The Rose, a destination for all things perfume-related. Now, when she indulges in a crazy-expensive bottle of fragrance, she can do so guilt-free. Well almost. It’s all in the name of research after all.
