Fashion retailer Simons now offers perfume
Another fast fashion retailer is offering perfume, as Simons enters the beauty biz enlisting the help of an independent perfumer
Quebec department store Simons offers clothing, accessories, homewares and now, perfume. The brand launches into beauty with three perfumes, in collaboration with a Canadian perfumer.
The perfumer
The collection includes three minimalist perfumes with textile-inspired names. Montreal fragrance designer Ruby Brown created the perfumes in collaboration with the brand. Before pursuing perfume, Ruby Brown was an internationally acclaimed model. It was due to a trip to Grasse that she fell in love with perfume. She, therefore, decided to study the subject and took a course with PerfumersWorld. Finally landing back in Montreal, Brown created a made-to-measure perfume experience, Essence Workshop. She now offers scented candles, bespoke perfumes and custom private label services.
The perfumes
The perfumes in the line are Soie (silk), Coton (cotton) and Lin (linen). Each perfume is linked to a fabric and therefore meant to convey the feeling of Simon’s in-house brand, Contemporaine (known for its modern and sophisticated pieces). Soie is a blend of grapefruit, white tea and bergamot—soft and luxurious. Coton is fresh with notes of mandarin, violet leaf and jasmine. And Lin is full of bergamot, cyclamen and lily of the valley creating a crisp and airy scent.
The perfumes retail for $50 (50 ml) and are available in the Contemporaine section of Simons stores (14 across Canada) and on Simons.ca as of May 4, 2017.
