Designer Jason Wu set to release a perfume

Jason Wu’s new fragrance: We expect minimal and classic with dose of fun and modernity

American fashion designer Jason Wu is set to release his first namesake fragrance in fall 2017, reports WWD.com. Wu, who celebrated 10 years in business this year, has yet to offer beauty products as part of his brand. The designer deal is with perfume house Parlux Ltd. but a more specific release date has not been announced.

This isn’t Wu’s first foray into the beauty market, however. He was part of the creative development of Hugo Boss Boss The Scent For Her in 2016, and in 2012 he teamed up with Nest Fragrance’s Laura Slatkin on a home fragrance called Orchid Rain.

“This has been an incredible personal experience and I am thrilled to be able to showcase my aesthetic as a signature fragrance,” says Jason Wu.

What are we hoping for from the new scent? Well, if it’s anything like the fall 2017 collection Wu presented on February 10, we’re hoping for a fragrance with a classic and minimalist bent—with a fun edge of course. Something fresh and modern—a fougère perhaps—and something that is chic but doesn’t take itself too seriously. You will probably be able to wear it to work or on date night. Whatever it ends up being, we can’t wait to smell it.
