We spoke to blogger Jodi Blk about her Valentine’s Day perfume

Minimalist and monochrome, Jodi Blk sticks to classics with her style and perfume.

Jodi Blk is pretty particular when it comes to her style. One look at the fashion and lifestyle blogger’s Instagram or website and you’ll see that it’s a pretty black-and-white issue. Given that, we were sure she would have some strong opinions about her fragrances too. Her choices: A couple of classic perfume houses and a need-to-know niche brand round out her perfume wardrobe.

What do you think is the sexiest fragrance?

Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium. The opening notes of coffee kickstart your adrenaline, and then vanilla leaves you with sweet sensuality. Add white flowers and you’ve got a very seductive scent.

What about the most romantic fragrance?

The romance of Saint Laurent Mon Paris starts with the stunning jewel-shape bottle and little black bow—very French. It’s soft and feminine with notes of berries and bergamot. It leaves you wanting more.

What is the difference between the two?

Sexy fragrances achieve the perfect balance of masculinity and femininity. For me, they’ll have woody notes and exotic flowers.

What fragrance would you love to receive this Valentine’s Day?

Le Labo Santal 33 is on my wish list. I love strong, unisex scents and this perfume is totally addictive. I could bathe in it.

What is the best perfume gift you’ve ever received?

My mother-in-law bought me Tom Ford Black Orchid for Christmas and it meant so much to me. I’ve wanted it for so long but would never have purchased it for myself. It was such a treat.

What scent would you love to give to your sweetheart this Valentine’s Day?

Le Labo The Noir 29 is a great gift. I find it smells super sexy but still distinguished and mature.

If spending Valentine’s Day at home, what are some ways you would scent your space for the evening?

I would probably light all of my favourite candles. It would be luxurious because usually I’m afraid to light them—I want them to last forever.

How do you get ready for date night? What is your beauty routine?

I keep my makeup pretty light on date night because my husband appreciates my natural beauty. I don’t see the point of hiding my face under makeup because at the end of the night, he’s going to see the real me. I like to wear a nude lip when we go out because I hate when I leave lipstick on my glass. I always wear perfume on date night too because a great scent is the perfect accessory.
