Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop to launch first fragrance

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop to launch first fragrance

It’s about time. Goop, the brainchild of Gwyneth Paltrow, is launching a new perfume—and it’s made sans artificial ingredients of course.

It’s sort of shocking that in the land of celebrity fragrance, Gwyneth Paltrow is missing. She’s conquered pretty much everything else—movies, books, publishing, green and clean living—so it makes sense that her brand, Goop, is turning to fragrance.

How is this on Goop brand?

Well, for starters, the fragrance is made with zero artificial ingredients. No small feat for a fragrance. According to Elle, Paltrow wanted to create a “sophisticated, complex, beautiful, and also completely non-harmful fragrance.” Paltrow’s decision to enter into the fragrance market was because of the lack of ingredient transparency with other fragrance brands. She hopes that women will become more aware of how toxic chemicals can be affected your health.

Is this the beginning of a fragrance empire?

We don’t know about that, but there will be more than one scent. Edition 01 is being released as a winter fragrance—with the other seasons sure to follow. Why did Paltrow start with winter? “I like the coziness of winter, and the family time that comes with it,” Paltrow told Elle, “everyone is inside and together and curled up on sofas reading.”

But what does Goop Edition 01 perfume smell like?

We’ve yet to smell the scent, but the notes include cypress, frankincense, labandum, vanilla, clove leaf, juniper, and styrax tree bark. Sounds warm and wonderful, no?
