UNDER-$50 FRIDAY: THE BODY SHOP’S DESIGNER SCENTS

UNDER-$50 FRIDAY: THE BODY SHOP’S DESIGNER SCENTS

How fun to switch up your signature scent for the summer with something a little lighter, a little brighter. But the season is so short. No worries. Today’s recommendation gives you the designer spritz experience, without the splurging—and the guilt.

The Body Shop borrows from the boutique fragrance world with its new Summer Fragrance Collection. To capture our perfume-loving attention, the global retailer tapped the expertise of a trio of industry A-list noses. The result: sunny, flirty and fresh versions of some of the shopkeep’s best-selling floral toilettes.

Thank perfumers Loc Dong (mixer of the notable Euphoria for Calvin Klein and Be Delicious for Donna Karan); Dominique Ropion (he of Frederic Malle, Christian Dior and Thierry Mugler fragrance fame), and Domitille Bertier (the expert mixer of Viktor&Rolf’s Flowerbomb and Davidoff’s Hot Water) for new twists on mass-market faves. The new issues: Dreams Unlimited Sun Fresh, Love Etc… Sun Kiss, and White Musk Sun Glow.

Loc Dong’s Dreams Unlimited Sun Fresh is salty and sweet, like a day at the beach with aquatic notes, watermelon, neroli, and orris.

Ropion’s Love Etc…Sun Kiss is warm and sensual with lush, bright fruit (nectarine and bergamot), and neroli jasmine, amber and sandalwood.

Bertier’s White Musk Sun Glow is zesty yet warm with lemon, peony, sandalwood, and of course, musk.

At $25 for their 50 and 60 ml sizes, these eaux de toilettes deliver great value—a designer perspective at near-discount prices—and and are ideally suited to summer scent experimentation, so make haste while the sun shines. www.thebodyshop.com

Her long-held love of fragrance led her to launch The Whale & The Rose, a destination for all things perfume-related. Now, when she indulges in a crazy-expensive bottle of fragrance, she can do so guilt-free. Well almost. It’s all in the name of research after all.
