Perfumes for Game of Thrones season six
What cologne does Tyrion spritz? Does the Mother of Dragons have a perfume to fuel her power? We’d like to think so.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve no doubt heard about the upcoming sixth season of Game of Thrones, debuting Sunday, April 24. After a doozy of a season five leaving many fates hanging in the balance, we’re psyched to see what is to happen to some of our favourite characters. Until then, we’ll just speculate on what fragrances they might wear.
Cersei Lannister
Cersei has had a rocky few seasons, though her constant quest for glory and vengeance don’t go unnoticed. For her, we would suggest Lady Gaga Fame. The notes in this fragrance are perfect for her cutthroat style: tears of Belladonna (it’s no secret she’s used poison in the past), black veil of incense, pulverized apricot, honey drops (for the sweet side she shows her court), crushed heart of tiger, orchidea and jasmine sambac—plus the claw-like cap matches her death-like grip.

Jon Snow
While Jon Snow’s fate has yet to be determined (we’re still hopeful), in an effort to be positive, we’re going to choose a scent for him anyway. Something inconspicuous and easy to conceal, as surely such contraband as a fragrance is forbidden for a man of the Night’s Watch. We’re also pretty certain that he doesn’t have time for frivolities amidst the war with the Whitewalkers. For Jon we choose a manly scent like John Varvatos Artisan Black, with its mix of citrus notes on a spicy, woody, leathery base.

Daenerys Targaryen
The Mother of Dragons has been busy. Between being married off to a Dothraki king, ruling on her own, overtaking and freeing several slave cities and raising three dragons, Khaleesi has grown into her power. For her, we choose something that will complement her dragon children: Clean Reserve Smoked Vetiver. It’s a dynamic blend of bamboo leaf, blonde cedarwood, quince pear, peony, gold amber, vetiver, woods and myrrh. Clean but powerful: It’s perfect for her as she continues to fight for her rightful place on the Iron Throne.
Clean Reserve Smoked Vetiver EDP, $125 (100 ml), www.sephora.ca
Sansa Stark
The eldest Stark daughter has always had a regal side with a mix of naiveté. Sansa has done some growing up in the most unfortunate of ways in the past season. For her, we want a sweet scent that is equal parts girly and grown up—we expect to witness her newfound strength in spades this upcoming season. Jo Malone’s London Peony & Blush Suede Cologne blends classic florals like peony, jasmine and rose with biting apple and blush suede, match well with the feminine Miss Stark.

Tyrion Lannister
Tyrion has always enjoyed the finer things in life, including his wine. While he’s tougher than most people give him credit for, his character has always gravitated towards luxury. We imagine him wearing Frederic Malle Une Rose. It may seem flowery on the surface (quite like Tyrion himself), but when surrounded by notes like truffle accord, geranium, wine dregs, vetiver, patchouli and the leather-like castoreum, you get a luxe fragrance fit for a Lannister.
