When Clinique Happy for Men premiered in 1999, I romanced the citrus thing like nobody’s business, and still do. It was, I think, a direct result of an early-on obsession with Clinique. I thought I was smarter, more sophisticated—and better looking!—because I washed my face with a special bar of yellow soap and used a toner. Such urbanity! A refreshing aquatic with bright vetiver opting in for the citrus; a nice beachy scent for the cottage, on the speedboat, for both lawn darts and the polo match. The cyclamen warms up the watery-ness.
