Smell like Bond, James Bond

In honour of Spectre, the 24th James Bond film, we couldn’t resist choosing a few fragrances tailor-made for men in suits. Or more specifically, tailor-made for a sexy, smart Daniel Craig in a great suit.

We considered asking a stylish man for his short list of scents to wear with a James Bond-worthy suit.

But if we know one thing about Bond, it’s that he has no trouble charming the ladies—he often charms them straight to the bedroom (and sometimes into the grave). So perhaps it is a woman who is more suited (pardon the pun) to pick the to-die for scents that—along with a little Savile Row tailoring—drive them into 007’s arms.

Here are our top men’s fragrance picks to wear if you’re wanting to channel James, James Bond.

ChristianDior_EauSauvage_1966Sexy, chic and Sauvage

The iconic Eau Sauvage: Beloved by men and women both for its unique freshness, this fragrance is as seductive today as it was when released in 1966 in the era of Sean Connery’s Bond. Notes of rosemary and citrus mingle with jasmine, oakmoss, vetiver and coriander. Despite approaching 50 years anniversary, this is not your grandfather’s scent. It is surprisingly modern and elegant so we think ideal for Mr. Craig or Mr. Craig wannabes. Christian Dior Eau Sauvage, $102 (100 ml), www.sephora.com

AcquaDiParma_Colonia_1916Italian-style Bond

Acqua di Parma Colonia is said to have graced the wrists of another well-suited man, Cary Grant, so it makes sense that this beloved Italian classic makes our list of best-scents-for-a-suit. First composed in 1916, Colonia is a crisp aromatic scent containing notes of citrus, lavender, rosemary, amber and rose. European and refined in spirit, this iconic cologne would also do well when Bond unwinds on the Italian Riviera and swaps his suit for an unbuttoned shirt and a shaken-not-stirred martini. Acqua di Parma Colonia, $189 (100 ml), www.nordstrom.com

HugoBoss_BossBottledBond, he’s the Boss

Most well-known for its juicy apple top note, Boss Bottled is actually a warm and woody masculine scent. This spritz combines notes of plum, cloves, cinnamon, vetiver and geranium define the fragrance. Think of it as classic with a casual fruity modernity to suit a young savvy Bond. Hugo Boss Boss Bottled, $105 (100 ml), www.nordstrom.com www.thebay.com

Carven_PourHomme_2015Mr. Bond, Pour Vous

Carven Pour Homme is delicious: Notes of violet leaf, orange blossom, grapefruit, sage, nutmeg, vetiver and sandalwood create an earthy freshness that is simple and striking—like a good suit should be. This is definitely a pick for a 21st-century Bond who embraces technology and is interested in fashion trends, but still knows the power of old school design. Carven Pour Homme, $130 (100 ml), www.nordstrom.com

AramisA killer of a classic

This scent is all about the leather note—a smooth essence that exudes luxury, not to mention a very chic cocktail bar. Notes of bergamot, gardenia, patchouli, cinnamon and vetiver contribute to its refined power. This is an in-your-face sexy scent for daring rogue-ish Bonds, more Sean Connery than Pierce Brosnan. Aramis Classic, $97 (100 ml), www.nordstrom.com
